QWOCMAP’s 14th annual International Queer Women of Color Film Festival will premiere 21 films in 3 screenings, June 8-10, 2018. The Festival Focus, “Indigenous Futures,” is a keen lightning strike of power, a resonant rumble of decolonization, and a glorious reservoir of indigenous brilliance. From hip hop Native warrior women too feral for the patriarchy to the smoldering romance of two elderly Latina lesbians so hot that it incinerates prejudice, these films are a barometer for our revolutionary tomorrow. All films are Subtitled for the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing and ASL interpretation will be provided along with many other forms of disability access.
Updated QWOCMAP mission:
QWOCMAP uses film to shatter stereotypes and bias, reveal the lived truth of inequality, address the vital, intersecting issues that concern multiple populations, and build understanding and community around art and social justice.
QWOCMAP creates, exhibits, and distributes high-impact films that authentically reflect the lives of queer women of color (cisgender & transgender), and gender variant and transgender people of color (of any orientation), and address the vital, intersecting social justice issues that concern our multiple communities.
QWOCMAP’s vision nurtures filmmakers as artist-activist leaders for social change.
